Day 162- September 2- Nicolas Payette

I decided a week ago that with work and everything else, it is going to be almost impossible to keep up the same level of writing on this blog, if I hope to actually keep up with my daily blog for a full 365 days. Thus, the entries are now going to have to be shorter. This is not a reflection on the people I will be featuring. They are still chosen because they are someone that I like, have worked with, have enjoyed having as a friend or am intrigued by. They are special, important and unique. They are someone who has made an impression.

I met Nicolas in 2006, or maybe earlier. Whenever the first year of Tundra Trot was. He was the coach and gym teacher in the Hudson coast community of Umiujaq and I was the coach from GR. It was fun working with him for that event. We helped keep it going for 4 years, the last one was hosted here in GR. Since that time he has moved to Kuujjuaq and began work with Education services and also helped try to bridge the gap between schools and the Health Board. He is committed to promoting and making tangible effort to get the people of Nunavik more active and healthy. He is passionate about his work, and creative in his efforts. His work comes only second to his growing family, which will have one more member in only a few months. All the best Nick!! Thanks for the photo!
